Dinner and Movie Night 2008

Dr. Shane Sharp and Dr. David Hale of the University's Computer Based Honors Program, Alabama Institute of Manufacturing Excellence, Aging Infrastructure program has invited our MAP students to learn about their facilities. Students are provided a lecture based overview of (1) opportunities in continued education and research careers, and (2) as an example of research fields some of the important aspects of the impact of Aging Infrastructure in this country. The students are then given a tour of the AIME research labs including the sound damping room where students enter and experience an atmosphere where no vibrations can occur. This past year, one of the Electrical Engineering graduate students who joined the group explained how this sound damping phenomenon is related to one of our field trip exercises at the Holt Hydro plant. After touring the AIME facility, students are given dinner and since this event is held on a Friday night they allowed to stay after hours to watch a movie on the large screen in the auditorium or enjoy X-box games in one of the back rooms of the building.
